Hobbies

I love climbing or anything outdoors. Over the summers I work as a rock climbing, backpacking, and whitewater rafting guide. I have a passion for science and helping students become better problem solvers. My philosophy on teaching is to start from a known fact (i.e. electrons are negatively charged) and reason through a problem systematically. Everything in chemistry can be broken down this way. I have found that when science is a coherent story, the learning is deeper and much more enjoyable than simply memorizing a list of facts.
